Colorado Skiing

Vail, Colorado

The base of Vail Ski Area is at 8120feet (2745m) and the top of the field is 11,570feet (3526m). Vail has a reliable snow record with a large ski area. The ski/snowboard school, known as Flight School, is one of the largest in the world and offers over 150 snowboard instructors. Vail has big mogul fields and substantial off-piste terrain.

This field is best suited for children, those seeking the creature comforts, skiers and riders of all levels of experience. Blue Sky Basin, one of Vail's newer areas offers some steeper skiing.

Vail is seen as the showcase of American skiing/snowboarding. It shares a lift pass with Beaver creek, Aropahoe Basin, Breckenridge and Keystone. The field is not recommended for the budget conscious snowboarder.

The Golden Peak terrain park, known as Fly Zone, at Vail has a super-pipe that is 450ft long with 18ft walls. There are another two pipes, 24 tabletops and 30 rails plus 12 unique hand-carved rails. At Bwana you will find Aviator, a terrain park for beginners with a beginner half-pipe, jumps and rails. So for those snowboarders wanting to improve their skills, everything is there...
